The Bauer Foundation was created by Fred and Ruth Bauer, long-time residents of Salisbury, Connecticut. Fred Bauer was a graduate of Cornell University, and Ruth Bauer was a graduate of Wellesley College. The Foundation provides indirect scholarship assistance for undergraduate college education to deserving students residing in Connecticut Regional School District One — based on merit and need.

The Bauer Fund operates in the same manner as the Bauer Foundation — however grants from the Fund are limited to students attending Cornell University or Wellesley College.
